WP3 aims to study, develop and implement innovative, tangible and effective solutions in response to the growing demand of social safety in everyday life by integrating technical and scientific knowledge and skills such as Industrial Design, Structural Engineering, and Computer Science. In particular, the focus will be on the designing, developing and implementing of circular, smart, and life-saving furniture in case of earthquakes, for community settings. The new products will be developed from a structural perspective and new technical-performance requirements will enhance the specific technical features of furniture, in terms of operation, use, durability, safety, and environmental sustainability. The furniture system will integrate technological solutions such as a specific sensor and one computer data management platform, which will turn the furniture into smart systems.
- A series of product prototypes will be produced to test in the laboratory the expected structural performances and mechanical resistance, to ensure the preservation of life.
  • The set of tests and test procedures, developed during the project, will be a result that, presented in the specific regulatory technical committees, may become a reference for the development of new technical standards on "life-saving furniture”.
  • A digital tool will be developed to learn about the new products, understanding their operation and how to use them with the aim of optimizing the chances of survival in case of emergency. 
  • A final exhibition will be designed and fitted out in the selected context to maximize the dissemination and knowledge of the project results.
